For nature lovers, we have a boat tour within Bahía Magdalena that allows us to verify that Bahía Magdalena is home to the largest mangrove forest in Baja California, and that the mix of ecosystems: mangrove, dunes and mountains, with the sea; They allow the existence of wonderful landscapes, where a vast diversity of plant and animal species coexist. In the dunes, you can see the incredible contrast between the large mounds of sand, similar to a desert, with the sea. It is possible to see how at high tides, the sea covers part of the dunes. It is a unique feeling to be in those places. In the mangroves, you can see: The red mangrove, the sweet mangrove, the white mangrove, the black or dark mangrove and the buttonwood mangrove; that create an incredibly diverse and unique ecosystem; housing a large number of species of fish, as well as many species of birds; such as the osprey, the peregrine falcon, the pelicans: white and brown, the cormorant or diver, frigatebird or earwig, seagulls, several types of herons, such as the white heron, the white ibis, the blue heron, the ash blue heron, the green heron, the tricolored egret and the reddish egret; the cinnamon-billed woodpecker, the beaked rail; the long-billed curlews, the sea cock, the terns; the plovers, the sandpipers; the warblers; the oystercatchers, the kingfisher, among many other birds. It is possible that some mammals such as the coyote can be seen on the beaches or among the mangroves. Likewise, in the sea, near the mangroves and in the open sea, you can see 4 species of turtles: black/green, loggerhead, hawksbill and olive ridley. All this wealth of flora and fauna existing in Magdalena Bay allows the formation of such special ecosystems, which make this geographical area of our country incredibly beautiful.
